Some thoughts...

At the Xmas drinks at Trev's (well done mate for a very enjoyable evening), Spid, Stephen and I were discussing the issue of the Open being incorporated into the Slam. We thought an even greater idea would be to play the Open and the HIO simultaneously with the final round of both these tournies played at St Andrews! Epic thinking. Would look like this;
Round 1 at Celtic Manor is the 1st leg of the Open
Round 2 at Carne in Ireland could be leg 1 of the HIO
Round 3 at Royal County Down could be the 2nd leg of the Open
Round 4 at Royal Birkdale or Troon could be leg 2 of the HIO
Round 5 at Saint Andrews could be the final leg of both those tourneys!


The final round of the tour, which is likely to be Wentworth as it is close to Heathrow, will be the final leg of the Slam!

Latest news!

We now have 6 confirmed savers. Our funds have now gone over $5k, awesome result. Every month takes us closer to the golfing holiday of a lifetime. Well done boys, you are all inspired individuals and I'm happy to be going on this mission with you all.

The Seagull scratched

Breaking news, the Seagull has scratched himself from the Slam quoting the extreme cost of funding his childrens education amongst other factors. Clearly he should have packed them off to Ranui High School and saved money....

McWilliams is now fully subscribed

to the savings scheme. There are 6 of us who are doing the monthly saving and good progress being made as we have nearly hit $2k. Sweet!

Early outing of the slackers.....

Certain slammers who shall remain nameless - Steve & Scott, have failed to deposit any rupees into the fund despite the deadline being last Monday. Sort yourselves out boys!

It begins!

Monday the 25th of July 2011 is the day the savings campaign commences. Now we can relax and let the rupees accumulate. In other news, Allan McWilliams is a possible new entrant to the Slam. Will keep you posted,

Bank Account details are imminent

Trev and I have signed the paperwork and hopefully the account will be in action by next week. As soon as it is ready I will send you the details and the date that we want everyone to make the payment. This will be the first major step on the path to the Slam in 2015!

Looks like we have our 8 confirmed...

the question becomes, can we do 12? That would have to be the maximum. Currently we don't have Ant Healey, Shane Rush, Darcy Pye or Conrad in the mix. Should we consider 12?

D-Day is nearly upon us.

By June 30 we will know who is on board and who is going to be left home to lie sobbing in the fetal position on the floor of the lounge in the knowledge that he is missing the greatest golfing epic ever conceived. Don't let it happen to you boys.

Early signs are good, there is universal acceptance that this is too good to miss.
